Leicester City celebrated one of football’s greatest underdog stories on Saturday after securing the Barclays Premier League title last week. To make the story even more incredible, we made one lucky Leicester City supporter's dream come true as we awarded him the Barclays Premier Leaguer Trophy to hand over to Leicester captain Wes Morgan at the celebrations on Saturday.
Steve Worthy, a diehard Leicester supporter and season ticket holder for 15 years, gave the Barclays Premier League Trophy to Morgan in front of 32,000 fans at the King Power Stadium and millions watching their crowning moment on broadcasts worldwide.
Worthy was surprised by Leicester legend Muzzy Izzet, who brought the Trophy to his house after Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Monday.
Worthy's story gets even better when you realise that he was inspired to enter the competition by his 97-year-old grandmother, Gladys Kenny. Gladys is an even more diehard Leicester City fan having supported the team since 1949 and had a season ticket at Leicester before retiring it ahead of the 2014/15 campaign due to ill health.
